Mommy always tells me–usually when she is trying to comb a knot out of my coat or give me a bath–that there is a price to be paid for being so beautiful. There are a lot of perks too, and one of them is that I can usually fall asleep almost anytime, and anywhere I want to. Sometimes I even fall asleep when I don’t want to and I try to stay awake so I won’t miss anything. So how much do dogs sleep? You might be surprised!

This coming Sunday, May 12th is Mother’s Day. It is a day set aside so that we can recognize and honor all pawrents for the role they have in giving life and nurturing the young, as the cycle of birth – growth – death has repeated for generations since time began. We always think of it in the context of our own pawrents, own children and our own relatives; however, there are some pawrents that are different and special beings: foster pawrents. Unrelated by blood, yet the connection between the Fosters and those they have fostered is just as golden. There is a poem posted on the Southern California Pomeranian Rescue website [Tear Jerker Alert: get tissue box now]:
The holiday known as Cinco de Mayo — or Fifth of May — celebrates the victory in 1862 of the Mexican people over France. Many people confuse it with Mexican Independence Day which had actually happened fifty years earlier. Cinco de Mayo has become a celebration of Mexican culture and heritage more in the US than in Mexico, but whatever the reason, let’s have a pawty and and wish our Mexican furrends and neighbors a Festive Cinco de Mayo! Mommy made my China Poblana, a traditional dress worn by dancers at Fiestas.
It was in July of 2010 that we started down this path, never knowing that the 20 fleece blankies that Mommy made and donated to Southern California Pomeranian Rescue would continue on as one of the best and most loved fundraisers for SCPR. Fast forward to now, and Mommy has actually made over 600 of them and they are still as popular as ever. My furrends really love that I pose for a photo with every blankie that is ordered and it is posted on my Facebook page. In fact, it was one of those photos that Mommy entered in the 2011 PetMeds Next Pet TV Star contest that I won, and sent me into the homes of millions of PetMeds customers over the television and in the printed ads that you still see when you order something. It was a Red, White, and Blue Bella Blankie, made especially for the Fourth of July holiday. Here is that photo:
The day following the fashion show Le Chien in Palm Desert, the Trunk Show was held at Cosmopawlitan Cafe . The Cosmopawlitan Cafe is a wonderful pet boutique on El Paseo in Palm Desert and is a fun place to go for a treat or gift for your pup. It is not hard to find and has lots of parking in the back. Here is the front of the store:
Last Saturday night I was thrilled to be invited to attend a lovely fashion show featuring the exquisite designs by Linda Higgins of Classy Doggie Designs during El Paseo Fashion Week in Palm Desert. The event benefited the Humane Society of the Desert in Palm Springs, a non-profit that relies on donations for survival.
I think that everypawdy must recognize this zip code from the TV show Beverly Hills 90210. Last Sunday I had a chance to check it out for myself at the Woofstock 90210 event held at Roxbury Park in Beverly Hills. The event was sponsored by the City of Beverly Hills with the support of Pets 90210, The Pet Care Foundation. It was a pawesome day, the weather was pawfect and sooo many people came! Here is the poster for the event:
I just love going to dog shows. It is where you get to see the best of the best, the best examples, and the most pampered pooches anywhere. Dog shows are open to the public, and have much to offer anypawdy who owns a dog, or would like to own a dog. There are usually vendors there selling a variety of dog-related items: toys, collars, leashes and harnesses, pet beds, health and nutrition supplements, pet food, doggie wear and people wear, grooming tools and supplies, oh-my-dog the list just goes on and on. I love to go so that I can see old furrends and catch up on what’s been happening in their lives! My furrend Diva is a Pomeranian that competes in agility, and she was there grabbing up some blue ribbons! Here I am, barking with Diva and her brother TomTom, and Fancy, who we met there last year:
I live so close to so many important landmarks and historical sites, so I invited my close furrend Coco Puffz to join me on an outing to the famous Hollywood Walk of Fame. We were there to sniff out the sidewalk stars of the three canines who have been honored with their own stars in recognition of their contributions to entertainment. The intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street is our starting point:
A Pet Expo is a fun event for all pet owners to attend and see new products, gather new resources, and learn about new things that are available in their community to enhance their lives and the lives of the pets that live with them. On Feb 2, 2013 a one-day Expo was held at the Long Beach Convention Center and featured more than 150 vendors of products and services geared towards pets. We saw mostly dogs, there were a few kitties, birds, snakes, and even an Iguana named Sarah! In addition, there were interactive events: a Talent Contest and a Costume Contest, an entertainment stage with guest speakers, television stars, seminars on pet safety and first aid, obedience and agility demonstrations, free nail trims, low-cost vaccinations and much more. Here I am arriving at the Convention Center and getting ready to go inside:
