Help change the life of a pet in need!
Shelters and rescues across the U.S. are called upon every day to take in homeless pets, some of whom need extensive medical care before they can be adopted out into homes. This medical care can come at a steep price for rescue groups with already tight budgets, preventing them from caring for additional pets.
Two years ago, we started the Change a Pet’s Life Contest to help rescue groups and pets alike by offering medical grants for adoptable pets in need. The contest has helped an abandoned pug, Gorilla, and a former puppy mill breeder, Regina, regain their health and find forever homes. This year, we’re continuing the tradition with our third annual Change a Pet’s Life Contest.
2017 Change a Pet’s Life Contest details
The 2017 1-800-PetMeds Cares™ Change a Pet’s Life Contest will grant $3,500 for the medical treatment of three adoptable pets, and we need your help to do it!
The contest is now open to entries, and eligible animal rescue groups can each enter one adoptable pet in need through January 15, 2017.To enter, a rescue group representative must visit the contest webpage, fill out the entry form with the pet and rescue group’s information, and submit a photo of the pet.
Voting will then take place on the same webpage from January 16-22, 2017. The pet with the most votes will receive up to $2,000 for his/her medical treatments and will also be featured in a video produced by 1-800-PetMeds Cares™. The second-place pet will receive $1,000 for his/her medical care, and the third-place pet will receive $500 for his/her treatments.
Eligible groups include animal shelters and/or rescues in the U.S. that have not won a 1-800-PetMeds Cares™ contest within the last year. Each group can enter one pet into the contest, and all submissions should be completed by a group representative.
How can you help?
Is there an animal rescue or shelter that you support, or an adoptable pet in need that you want to help? If so, let the rescue group know about the Change a Pet’s Life Contest and urge them to enter! Then, visit the contest webpage every day from January 16-22, 2017, to vote for the group’s pet. Anyone 18 (or age of majority in state of residence) or older can vote once per 24 hours. Share the contest with your friends, family and community and ask them to vote as well!
You can also help pets in your community by donating your time, money or skills to a local rescue group or animal shelter. For some other ideas on how you can help, visit our article on helpful donation items for animal shelters.
Finally, the next time you’re ready to add a pet to your family, consider adoption. Shelters and rescues are full of great pets of all breeds, ages and sizes waiting for loving families to take them home!
