Pictured above is Greta, our eleven month old Doberman. She is luxuriating in her new bed and playing with a new squeak toy. We are pretty sure she will keep Ducky around for a while, but the bed is iffy. No pet bed in our house has made it this long and it has only been 48 hours. Her destruction of our house has been limited during puppy-hood, possibly because my two sons have beat her to it most days and there is nothing left to ruin, but her beds and mats have never made it longer than a day. I have caught her crouching down on top of this new bed as if she is getting ready to tear into it and start her digging, but then she thinks better of it and just lies down instead. I don’t know whether her hesitation is because she likes this bed better than the others, or because the stink eye I am giving her is working. My four year old just frowns and walks away when I give him “the look”, so I doubt it is adequate enough to give a 60 pound dog pause. I will just have to hope Greta understands that her daddy will not be shelling out for another orthopedic doggy bed. Only time will tell.
