Bella Models With Canine Companions For Independence

I was so thrilled to be able to participate in making Los Angeles Fashion History last week with Canine Companions for Independence, at their first annual Haute Dog | LA doggie runway fashion show and Silent Auction!  It was a star-studded evening at The Peninsula Beverly Hills.  It was an elegant setting for this fundraiser for such a sterling organization.  Here I am at the entrance:

I  am always interested in supporting other dogs that do good works, in fact it is one of my responsibilities as the Pombassador of Southern California Pomeranian Rescue.  The dogs and the people at CCI are one of the most outstanding groups I have had the pleasure to work with.

Bella is proud to support Canine Companions for Independence

CCI was founded in 1975, and is a non-profit organization that provides highly trained assistance dogs and ongoing support to people with disabilities at no cost.  Labrador and Golden Retriever puppies are born and cared for in the homes of volunteer breeder caretakers.  At two months the puppies are then raised by volunteer puppy raisers all across the country.  When they are 18 months old, the pups receive 6 to 9 months of professional training at Canine Companions.  As highly trained adult assistance dogs they are then matched with disabled people to assist with performing daily tasks, alert deaf or hearing impaired people to important sounds, serve as companions to augment independence for children and adults with physical, cognitive, and developmental disabilities; CCI dogs also work with professionals in visitation, education, or healthcare settings.   The Fashion Show that I was in was a fundraiser for this great organization.  Here I am on the runway with Mommy:

There were also several tables of beautiful jewelry items, sports memorabilia, and television/motion picture memorabilia items that had been donated for the silent auction.

Memorabilia was also available at the silent auction

The Disney VoluntEARS were one of many sponsors of the evening’s festivities, and they sent a very special Disney Friend to open the show.  Here is Pluto!!

Pluto made a guest appearance at the event

There were fifteen doggie models in all, and we all had our chance to walk the dogwalk in front of a panel of distinguished Judges who awarded three prizes that evening: Cutest Dog, Silliest Dog, and Most Creative Dog.  I was thrilled when it was announced that I won Cutest Dog!  Here I am collecting my prize:

What?? No, I didn’t win the Rolls Royce!  I won two Disneyland Day Hopper passes!!  Here is my group picture with the Judges:
