Celebrate DOGust With PetMeds®!

Every dog has their day on DOGust First, the universal birthday for shelter dogs. To celebrate, PetMeds® is giving away a DOGust Birthday Prize Package.

According to the ASPCA, over three million dogs are taken in at animal shelters across the United States each year, many without records of their previous history, their past name, or even a birthday.

In recognition of adopted rescues and dogs currently awaiting adoption in shelters, dog lovers celebrate DOGust First on August 1st as a universal birthday for all rescue dogs. First coined by North Shore Animal League America (NSALA) in 2008, it’s also a holiday to raise awareness of dogs who are still in need.

Dog parents of rescues can celebrate by taking their dog on a special outing to their favorite park, serving up a favorite meal, or going on a shopping spree for treats and toys.

Rescue dogs in need of homes deserve to be honored too. Anyone can join in on the celebration by supporting a local shelter through volunteering, donating, or even adopting a new four-legged family member to give them the best birthday gift ever: a forever home.

There’s millions of dogs in shelters right now waiting to be adopted. Those who aren’t sure if they’re ready to adopt can volunteer to walk or foster a dog and might just meet their new best friend.

PetMeds® is celebrating shelter dogs by giving away DOGust Birthday prize packs to 4 lucky winners through the month of August. All dog parents are invited to enter for a chance to win by leaving a comment below.

  15. Odie B is the MOST spoiled rescue because his mom loves him and appreciates him so much!
In addition, MY birthday is on August 13th! So, we celebrate him, me, and US literally everyday in August.
    Some top memories so far:
*Spa day for Odie which consisted of a nail trim and mud bath, followed by a massage with his favorite CBD balm from me at home.
*Beach days at Huntington Beach Dog Beach have been plentiful! He LOVES swimming so much! (And of course we loaded up on a whole new set of balls that float)
*His aunts and uncles live very close, so he will walk himself to their houses and get spoiled with love, toys, and fetch.
*Odie ran alongside by bike while we road around downtown. We saw a baby tiger shark caught by a fisherman on the pier. We saw a magician perform a few tricks. And we had a delicious home cooked meal together when we got home

    Upcoming:
*Roadtrip to San Diego to celebrate my birthday! Odie LOVES road-trips with the windows down and chill music on. He will get to see his great grandmother, his Aunties (my younger sissy’s), his grandma (my stepmom), and hang out by the pool or nap at granny’s where he gets spoiled to the MAX!
*Odie loves exploring HB and is basically a local celebrity, so we are lucky to be able to make great memories everyday together.

    Who rescued who!?!?
Ten years together so far, and I’m sure we rescue each other daily still. He’s the most constant being in my life and I make sure to annoy him with my love every single second!
