Celebrate DOGust With PetMeds®!

Every dog has their day on DOGust First, the universal birthday for shelter dogs. To celebrate, PetMeds® is giving away a DOGust Birthday Prize Package.
According to the ASPCA, over three million dogs are taken in at animal shelters across the United States each year, many without records of their previous history, their past name, or even a birthday.
In recognition of adopted rescues and dogs currently awaiting adoption in shelters, dog lovers celebrate DOGust First on August 1st as a universal birthday for all rescue dogs. First coined by North Shore Animal League America (NSALA) in 2008, it’s also a holiday to raise awareness of dogs who are still in need.
Dog parents of rescues can celebrate by taking their dog on a special outing to their favorite park, serving up a favorite meal, or going on a shopping spree for treats and toys.
Rescue dogs in need of homes deserve to be honored too. Anyone can join in on the celebration by supporting a local shelter through volunteering, donating, or even adopting a new four-legged family member to give them the best birthday gift ever: a forever home.
There’s millions of dogs in shelters right now waiting to be adopted. Those who aren’t sure if they’re ready to adopt can volunteer to walk or foster a dog and might just meet their new best friend.
PetMeds® is celebrating shelter dogs by giving away DOGust Birthday prize packs to 4 lucky winners through the month of August. All dog parents are invited to enter for a chance to win by leaving a comment below.

Rosie will be nine in September. She will enjoy basking in the sun and watching out for squirrels in the yard! And get lots of extra extra loving!
Sarah will be five in January. She will share birthday cake and Frosty Paws with her new “brother” Cooper. She always enjoys hearing the birthday song when she wakes up on her birthdaymorning!
We have two adopted black labs. Layla will be 12 years old on New Years Day and we have had her since she was 3 months old. Klasy just turned 5 in June and we have had her since she was 3 months. They love to play, chase squirrels in the yard and wag their tails really hard when they see one of our neighbors out in their back yard. They are people-loving dogs and we love them like they were our children. They are happy, play, sleep with us and love their treats at night especially their Greenies at 5:00 PM sharp. They know when that time comes and just go crazy funny.
Happy with product and service.
Big Chunk is a foster that I adopted after taking care of him for 5 months. He will be turning 3 soon and we plan to go to my parent’s farm where he can play with the other farm dogs and cats, chase some cows, and run free!
Since March 2020 I have fostered 18+ dogs for multiple shelters (Schnauzer Love Rescue, Australian Shephard Furever, and Humane Society of Tennessee Valley). Big Chunk was # 17 and I couldn’t give him up. He is a very well-mannered mini-schnauzer that likes kids and new people 🙂
Katniss will be 9 in February 2023. Our baby girl is a Cancer Survivor since February 2022. She has been in remission since. She loves hanging out by the pool in the lanai & watching the birds getting fish from the canal. Her special treat is ice cream! She loves it .
Gaia (9 months) & Ares (6 years) are spending DOGust helping with CGC training classes by being friendly dogs for meet & greet practice along with being good examples for sit/stay, wait/down & leave it commands.
Cool deal

Denali is a rescue and a Christmas baby! She will be 2 this year. She will be soiled with new toys and treats. She will enjoy gently ripping the wrapping paper off her gifts. I hope it’s a white Christmas so she can go crazy in the snow. Followed by taking a nap by the wood stove and ending the day with being song to with a doggie ice cream.
We are celebrating Oscar birthday at the community park with all the doggies invited
Harley was 12 on July 30, and Tressa was 13 on June 19. i have had my girls since they were babies. i dont really celebrate but cry now, at every birthday, although they do get presents and special treats with lots of hugs and kisses.
Our two rescues will get to have an extra walk this week! They 🥰 love it !!!
Reggie is a lab-mix rescue brought to Ohio from a high kill shelter in KY along with his 11 siblings. We fostered-to-adopt him on July 13 2019 at the age of 8 weeks old. He has been the VERY BEST dog ever! He is CGC, CGC Urban and CGC Community obedience trained and is a Certified Therapy Dog through Dogsters University of Dayton. He visits with children at the library for reading skills, goes visiting patients at nursing homes and hospitals, and works with Hospice of Dayton in their volunteer program. He has also worked with Gold Star and Wounded Warrior families. He is truly a one-of-a-kind type of dog. Most importantly he is the goofiest and most loving of animals I have ever had the privilege of sharing my home with. On his birthday (May 3) he gets a special birthday “cake” (healthy for dogs BTW) and a romp in the creek at the dog park with all his special K9 friends!
Our dog will be 13 tomorrow. We are celebrating by throwing her a party complete with decorations, gifts, cake and all our family being there to celebrate with her
