The long-standing tradition of making resolutions on New Year’s Eve is a great opportunity to get a fresh start, make goals, and set healthier habits. Many dog and cat parents make resolutions for their pets, too, but may struggle to make healthy changes that last all year. Pet parents should remember to set achievable, sustainable goals that can fit into their busy schedule. Many New Year’s resolutions, whether for people or pets, fall to the wayside when they’re overly ambitious.

Most dog and cat parents don’t brush their pet’s teeth daily, as recommended by veterinarians. If daily brushing is not a realistic resolution, even twice-weekly brushing can make a difference.

  12. Huskies are escape artists especially with 3-4 ft of snow in a 5-6ft high backyard fencing… Don’t you just love them anyway? We just placed 2X12 a foot over our chain link fencing. To try & keep her self this NY.

  16. I have an older dog named Foxy. Her resolution for this year is to lose weight. She is an older dog and gets spoiled with treats. She is going on a treat diet so she can lose weight. My younger dog Dana has a newyear resolution to go to obedience school. She is a bigger dog,3 years old and still acts like a puppy.

  17. My 3 babies are great. We just lost our oldest baby she was 17years and 6 months old. She had been with us since she was 8 weeks old. It hurts so much. She had 2 babies 12 years ago and they turned 12 November 22. We have a male who came to us 8 years ago. He was 8 weeks old when we got him. My babies are the reason I get up in the mornings. I’m in remission going on 3 years now. I was in stage 4 . But I have to stay around to take care of my fur babies. I really try to take the best care of them as I can. All 3 of my babies Love the snow and we had some yesterday. My boy Olaf named by my granddaughter is all about the snow.

    Our girl Bella is trying to lose a bit of weight. She has arthritis so we must keep the weight under control. My fella Beau is getting up there in age and his breath is stinky. I have a heck of a time trying to brush his teeth. Also, I’m going to try to be better at clipping his nails, which he hates when anyone touches his front paws.

Cody, the Code-Monster kitty, also resolves to lose some weight and to stop eating the dog’s food. My cats, Noel and Lil Bit, promise to stop holding their medicine in their mouths and spitting it out when I walk away. Romeo is going to try to stop wrapping himself aroung my head when we’re sleeping.
