Pet Parents Prep For Summer Travel with “Hit The Road with PetMeds®” Giveaway

Now that summer is starting, it’s time to plan adventures with pets, whether that means exploring sites close to home or flying to new destinations. To help pet parents get ready for summertime fun, PetMeds® is giving away prize packages each Friday in June.
June 21st marks the official start of summer, and pet parents are already planning adventures to take with their four-legged family members. Many might feel overwhelmed with the extra steps needed to safely accommodate their cats and dogs, especially those who will be traveling with recently adopted “pandemic pets,” for the first time.
Pet parents should take their pets for their annual vet visit if they have not already to ensure they are up-to-date on vaccines, prescription refills, and other routine health checkpoints that may be necessary for travel. Also, it’s important to make sure microchips and collar identification tags contain accurate contact information, especially because pets can get lost while on vacation far from home.
Travel anxiety is common in pets but can be managed to help them enjoy spending time away from home. Cats and dogs may need help acclimating to crowds, changes in their routine, and spending hours in a travel carrier. Specialty pet products like anxiety chews and calming collars can help pets cope with mild to moderate stress.
Remember to take breaks and check in with your pets, whether you’re driving, hiking, flying, or spelunking. Just like us, pets can get eye and skin damage from the sun’s UV rays, so keep your pet in the shade and make sure they always have fresh water.
Pet parents are invited to enter the “Hit The Road with PetMeds®” Giveaway for a chance to win a cat or dog prize package that includes a calming collar for dogs and cats, anxiety treats, and a treat holder – or the grand prize – a car seat cover, by leaving a comment below.

My dog Milo has bad anxiety. He and I lost my husband, his favorite person and mine too, to Covid last summer. We just recently went to St. Louis from Alabama to celebrate my daughter’s college graduation. He did a little better with travel since the vet gave him a prescription for special occasions. He also celebrated his 7th birthday up there. Next we are going to the beach in July. I hope the medicine from the vet helps with fireworks too, since those are major stressors for him. He is getting out and going places a lot more than he use to. I really cannot leave him behind anymore with his separation anxiety issues after what he has been through. Teaching an old boy new tricks!
We have planned on returning to our native state. Illinois, to visit family and friends. I have never been to my high school class reunion. I will be attending my 56th class reunion, the first I have ever attended. My husband and I will travel with our bichon frise born in 2004. She was a Therapy dog for 11 years, overlapped as a medical alert service dog at the age of 5. She has kept me going and we don’t board her anymore due to her still working as my service dog. She doesn’t know how to turn it off. She is on pain pills all the time and an antibiotic a week each month for anal gland issues. At 18 she is blind and not always able to make it outside when nature calls. But she is ours
Our nearly 18 year old furry guy is planning to attend a 4th of July party, and he hopes for a lotta meat scraps! His hearing has faded quite a bit the last few years so the fireworks don’t appear to be bothering him much anymore.
I adopted a lab/pointer mix. I named her Zoey. She is around 11 now. She loves camping with us. I noticed when I put her in the car she has a bit of anxiety. To make the ride better for her I bring her favorite blanket, treats and wrap her up in an anti anxiety vest which makes riding in the car more enjoyable. I love my Zoey and our camping adventures. Happy Summer Everyone!
My rescue dog loves going on trips with us. We always make sure to stop, take breaks, let her out and gives her lots of water! She loves traveling it’s so fun to see how excited she is! The tops above are very helpful!
I rescued Misty about 5 years ago she was sitting in a corner at a church down the street from me and Misty was soo weak she couldn’t stand I brought her home gave her water and food, she drank like if she never drank water before. I took her to the vet and now to this day she is a very healthy and playful one. She’s my daughter and this is her forever home. Amen
We have a new puppy that we rescued so this would be an exciting win. Our other dog is very old. We had two senior rescues and lost one in the past year.
Ziva and my grandbabies hitting the road for summer camping to celebrate the girls birthdays 🎉
Great Friday giveaways
Mostly my dog Bochy and I are just going to the park and the beach, nice day trips.
I have a wonderful Toy Poodle named Lola Jean. Her 5th. Birthday is the first day of summer, June 21rst. We are not able to travel due to gas prices but we can have our vaca in our backyard. Fireworks do upset her so we don’t like to have her outside during that time anyways. You of course already know that dogs can hear more then a thousand times better than people. So I wouldn’t put her in that situation anyways. She can still hear them when she’s in the house. The calming collar would be a nice birthday present for her, and we do need a car seat for her safety. We travel an hour for her vet visits every 3-4 months to get her liver enzymes checked due to a condition she was born with. The vets in my area don’t know enough about liver issues so I take her to her Breeder Daddy that happens to be a very knowledgeable vet. She gets special attention being one of his pups. I thank you for this opportunity to win these awesome items. She is my best friend and I would give up a travel vacation for her, she’s more important. Thank you very much. Please pick my Lola Jean for these prizes! Have a great summer!
i plan on hitting the pool and keeping my cats safe and sound
planning on pool time for the family and keeping our cats safe and healthy
Going to Acadia Park in Maine with lots of trails to hike with my dog Mazzy
Greyson and I just plan to chill out on our deck all summer
My pets don’t travel but have anxiety during fireworks and storms.
traveling to Wisconsin, my pup hates the car rides. He has anxiety but wants to go everywhere with me
Awesome, pup loves car rides
My dog loves his toys and treats.
My summer plans with Loki will not change much. He is my life line and we are basically together 24/7. We have breakfast, lunch and dinner together every day. We play, we train, we take breaks and naps, all this together. We go on walks, out to eat, go get ice cream, take rides, go to the beach, go to the park to play frisbee (Loki luvs to play frisbee). We make videos for his FB, IG and TikTok account and take lots of pictures. At the end of the day we play fetch and when it’s time for bed I have to jump in bed quickly before he gets on my side and lays his head on my pillow, if that happens I am hugging the side until he decides to move. All this is some of a typical week for me and Loki. I left out a lot of other things we do together. I would be lost without him and he will tell you he would be lost without me. We both love each other very very much. ❤️
I’m not traveling anywhere, but would love to win this to try and alleviate the stress of fireworks for my one doggie. I’ve tried something from the vet before with limited success.
travel plans still up in the air – taking care of several cats with health issues
still working on a vacation trip – taking care of several cats with health issues
Our beagle Rosie loves to ride in the car to visit my wife’s family in Indiana. With my wife, son and Rosie, our 4
guinea pigs(Marshmallow, Teddy, Bubbles and Brownie) also go for an entire family trip.
Our 14 yr old cat has anxiety when ever she is without us, this makes it extremely difficult to take vacations but our hope is to travel test her with hopes that we could vacation if she travels with us… the calming products would probably help with that so I would love to give them to try! Our vet uses a calming spray that has appeared to relax out kitty when there.
She also has anxiety when either of two cats that constantly roam outdoors comes to visit our home, she does not like them at HER house & she especially does not like when HER parents give others attention… it is territorial yes, but causes her stress.
