Show an animal shelter some appreciation by voting now!
The first full week of November each year is National Animal Shelter and Rescue Appreciation Week, a week held to encourage people to become better acquainted with their local shelters and learn how they can help. While this week ended Saturday, voting in our third annual National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week Contest is still going on, and we need your help to select a winner!
You can vote once every 24 hours from today until November 20, 2016, by visiting the contest page, selecting an entry and clicking the “vote” button. The contest was open to U.S.-located animal shelters and rescue groups that rescue dogs and/or cats, and there are entries from all over the country.
The group with the most votes when the contest ends will receive a $1,000 grant to aid its lifesaving work, and the two runners-up will receive flea prevention to help keep their adoptable pets healthy. Overall, approximately $1,750 in prizes will be awarded to the three winning groups.
Past winners include Indianapolis Animal Care & Control from Indianapolis, Ind., in 2014 and Lone Star Shih Tzu and Lhasa Apso Rescue of Texas from Houston, Texas, in 2015.
How can you help?
Vote! Visit the contest page and vote for a shelter or rescue once a day. The voting period will close at 11:59 p.m. ET on November 20, 2016. The winner will be announced on or around November 22, 2016.
You can also help by sharing this contest with your friends, family, community and other animal rescue supporters and urging them to vote. Help a shelter or rescue receive needed funds to continue rescuing animals!
