Leo the Piddler
Like I mentioned in Leo vs Potty Training Pt. 1, Leo has been pretty good about not going in the house, and we’ve pretty much stopped carrying him from our door to the potty spot. Although, since everything seems to be one step forward, two steps back, I wasn’t surprised to see Leo piddle for the first time. It goes like this:
Leo sees people. People see Leo. Leo starts the wiggle and races as far as the leash allows. People get excited that Leo is excited to meet them. People’s excitement shifts Leo’s excitement into overdrive, and Leo’s wiggle moves from his tail, to his torso, to his head. Sometimes he tries to jump up. Once they meet, Leo is head over heels and all pee breaks loose.
I’ve read that piddling is something that many puppies do and will soon grow out of. However, until I can trust Leo to keep his piddles to himself until we reach the designated potty spot, I have to scoop him up and apologetically (also awkwardly) tell any bypassers I’m afraid he’ll pee.
