Leo vs Potty Training Pt. 2
Since Leo vs Potty Training Pt. 1, we’ve slowly made progress on Leo’s potty training. It feels like it has been 2 steps forward and 1 step back. We no longer carry him from our apartment to the potty spot, less because we were confident he wouldn’t pee on the way down, more so because he was packing on the pounds—quickly.
However, Leo will still have accidents at random, which are entirely our fault. We keep making the mistake thinking he’s far more potty trained than he really is. Testing his pee-holding abilities is a very very fine line. I honestly don’t know what I would do without the Pet Odor Eliminator or the Stain Remover, especially since we gave Leo a little too much freedom around the house a little too quickly. Luckily, with both the stain and odor removers, he has yet to have an accident in the same spot twice. That must mean that he’s slowly learning, right?
We think he knows where he’s supposed to go (thanks to the continuous cheers and rewards he gets when he potties outside), and any accident is our fault for pushing his limit just over the line. At this point, we’re just trying to gauge how long he can be free in the house without an accident. At first, we would only allow him free reign for up to one hour, and now, we can confidently let him go for two hours without a potty break. It’s the little things.
