Daisy Celebrates National Cat Health Month

February is National Cat Health Month, but even more importantly, today is my BIRTHDAY! I know it is very hard to believe, but I am ten years old now. You are probably thinking, “How does Daisy stay so young and beautiful looking?”  In honor of National Cat Health Month, I will share my secrets because I want every cat to be happy and healthy, just like me. Keeping in tip-top shape is really pretty simple. Here is my 4-point plan:

  1. Take the right supplements
  2. Eat healthy food
  3. Take care of your teeth
  4. See your veterinarian regularly

What’s in my cabinet? Take a closer look! My supply cabinet is stocked with lots of great things that help keep Harley and me healthy. Because I am a little older, it’s not as easy for me to run and jump and play like I used to. That’s why my Mommeh sprinkles Cosequin for Cats on my food every day. I feel much better now, and some days I even play like a kitten! Plus, it comes in a pretty pink capsule, and pink is my favorite color.

You might also notice my little pink toothbrush and C.E.T. Enzymatic Toothpaste… it’s poultry flavored! Tartar doesn’t look pretty and no cat wants stinky breath, so it’s important to pay attention to your teeth. If you don’t like having your teeth brushed, you can use a water additive like Be Fresh Dental Care Solution.

Eating nutritious food is also an important part of maintaining the best of health, plus it tastes delicious! Today we’re eating some Halo Spot’s Stew.  Harley usually gets more than I do because he’s much bigger… but he still worries that I’m getting more food than him! Anyway, obesity is not healthy, so it is important to watch your serving size.

Daisy recommends VitaChews

Just to make sure you are getting all the important vitamins and minerals you need, you might want to take a vitamin supplement. These VitaChews also have taurine, which is very important for cats, as well as Omega-3 and digestive enzymes. They’re fish-shaped soft chews, and they have a yummy chicken liver flavor that I love!

Harley likes the Joint Chewys for Cats, but I think it could be because his picture is on the bag. These are soft chews and they taste just like treats, so it’s an easy way to take a joint supplement!

Harley, put those down! The serving size is only 2 soft chews per day!

Remember that regular visits to your veterinarian are also an important part of maintaining your health, even though it is No Fun to go there.

  22. Happy belated birthday Daisy! You look so young and lovely, I would have never thought you to be ten, your Mommeh takes such good care of you and Harley- you have obviously trained her well. Ms. Phoebe made it to 13 this past year which was a miracle for her being she was born with an auto immune disease and we were told we would be lucky to have her half as many years. It has been a sad time since she went to the Bridge last month, but it makes me happy to read your post with such important information for cat Mommeh’s & Daddeh’s to follow. I know if I had not done many of these things I would not have had the joy of my Phoebe for so many years.
I hope your day was fun and special and Harley wasn’t too much of a maniac!

  23. Thanks Ms. Phoebe’s mom; she was lucky to have a wonderful home with you. All that extra love is probably why Ms. Phoebe got to be 13 years old <3
