What your cat really wants to do on Cinco de Mayo
Hola! I’ll bet you were expecting to see DAISY here today! I volunteered because this story is about Cinco de Mayo and I am the party cat. Only now that I’m in the spotlight, I am a little nervous. I forgot what I was going to say! Um, er, well… Oh yeah, about Cinco de Mayo, or as I like to call it, Cinco de Meow.
First let me check to make sure my sombrero is on straight… okay, I’m good. Now, about Cinco de Mayo. I read on Wikipedia that this is a day in celebration of the Mexican army’s unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. But since that was a long time ago, nowadays many people like to celebrate by eating nachos, breaking open piñatas filled with candy, or maybe even having a cerveza. Well, NONE of those things sound like fun to me. Except maybe hitting the piñata. So, I have some alternate ideas for celebrating tomorrow.
First, you can always play with some really colorful toys (my personal favorites are the Yeowww! Catnip Toys). I might try to get Daisy to re-enact the famous Battle of Puebla with me. She will have to play the French army because I want to be the winner. Also, I could try to play the maracas. And, as long as I’m wearing this hat, I think I will perform a nice Mexican Hat Dance. Of course, at the end of the day, do not forget to eat some good snacks and then take a nice long siesta!
How are YOU going to celebrate Cinco de Mayo?
